Vice President Sara Duterte honored mothers and mother figures across the country as the Philippines celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10.

In her message, Duterte recognized the sacrifices, love, and resilience of mothers in caring for their families and raising children.

“Bilang isang ina, alam ko ang bigat at saya ng ating tungkulin — the silent prayers we offer for our children, the long hours we spend ensuring they are safe, and the constant effort it takes to balance work and family,” Duterte said.

“To nurture a child and lead a household is one of the most challenging roles any woman can take. But it is also the most rewarding,” she added.

The Vice President emphasized that mothers serve as the first teachers of their children and the foundation of Filipino families.

Duterte also delivered a special message for overseas Filipino worker mothers who continue to work far from their loved ones to support their families.

“To our OFW mothers, we know that sacrifice is not always about physical presence — sometimes, the greatest sacrifice is the distance you endure to provide for your family. Salamat sa inyong katatagan,” Duterte said.

She concluded her message by thanking mothers for their sacrifices and unconditional love.

“Sa lahat ng mga nanay na nagmamahal at nag-aaruga sa amin, maraming salamat sa inyo. Maligayang Araw ng mga Ina!” she said.

The Mother’s Day message came as Duterte continues to engage with Filipino supporters abroad amid ongoing political controversies and impeachment proceedings against her.
