Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte expressed his family’s unwavering support for Vice President Sara Duterte in an emotional birthday message marking her 48th birthday on Sunday.
Amid the political challenges confronting the Vice President, Pulong said their family remains firmly behind her and ready to stand with her through difficult times.
In a message written in a mix of Bisaya and English, the lawmaker said it was not easy to find the right words for a sister he had grown up with and watched sacrifice for both family and country.
Pulong said he had personally witnessed many of the hardships, pain, and sacrifices endured by the Vice President that are often unseen by the public.
Despite these challenges, he praised Sara Duterte’s resilience and determination.
“Pero maski unsa kabug-at ang dalhon, you always find the strength to stand up, move forward, and continue serving,” he said.
[Translation: No matter how heavy the burden, you always find the strength to stand up, move forward, and continue serving.]
The congressman added that his sister’s courage comes not from the absence of fear, but from her commitment to doing what she believes is right even under difficult circumstances.
He also described the Vice President as the same “Inday” their family grew up with — simple, sincere, and deeply devoted to family despite her demanding public responsibilities.
Pulong assured his sister that she is not facing her struggles alone.
“Ayaw kalimot na daghang kaayong tawo nga nahigugma ug nag-ampo para nimo. Most especially, imong pamilya nga kanunay naa diri, supporting you, believing in you, ug andam motindog uban nimo sa tanang panahon,” he said.
[Translation: Do not forget that many people love you and pray for you. Most especially your family, which is always here supporting you, believing in you, and ready to stand beside you at all times.]
Before ending his message, Pulong wished his sister good health, peace of mind, and strength for the challenges ahead.
“Happy Birthday. We love you very much, and we are always proud of you. Amping kanunay, ‘Day. God bless you always,” he said.
