A court in Abu Dhabi has ordered a driver to pay Dh10,000 in compensation to a man who was assaulted after reminding him to follow traffic rules at a pedestrian crossing.
The ruling followed an earlier criminal conviction, where the driver was found guilty of physical assault and verbal abuse and fined Dh5,000.
The court said the attack caused both financial and psychological harm to the victim, including his inability to work for several days and the distress suffered from the public incident.
Compensation was divided between financial losses and moral damages, reflecting the impact of the assault on the victim’s well-being.
Authorities emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic laws and respecting pedestrian rights to prevent similar incidents.
