From dealing with insurgencies, terror threats to disasters, Vice President Sara Duterte is counting on the Philippine Army to continue ensuring Filipinos live free, safe and not in fear.
On the Army’s 129th founding anniversary on March 22, the Vice President paid tribute to the military’s courage and selfless service, urging them to continue guarding democracy and the nation’s future.
“Today, we honor a legacy defined by selfless service and the highest form of sacrifice. Your unyielding courage is the reason our Republic remains sovereign, and our people remain free,” she said in a video message posted on Sunday.
“As you move forward, remain immovable in your integrity. I count on you to stay steadfast as our pillar of hope, ensuring that no Filipino has to live in fear. Continue to be the shield that protects our democracy and the strength that guards our future,” she said.
The country’s veep also commended the Army for dismantling the camps of the New People’s Army and neutralizing the threats of terrorism. As a result, they have given communities the room to breathe, grow, and thrive, she added.
“Your victories against insurgency are not just tactical wins—they are the building blocks of a stable and prosperous nation,” she said.
She also hailed the Army’s fast and efficient disaster response and relief efforts.
“Beyond the battlefield, you are also the first to arrive in times of disaster—serving as a beacon of hope and a lifeline to our people during their darkest hours,” she said.
