Penn State Men’s Basketball Earns Commitment From Filipino PG Andy Gemao

by Philippine Chronicle

Penn State is going global again.

The Nittany Lions added another international player to the team with the commitment of Filipino point guard Andy Gemao, he announced on Instagram on Friday evening.

Gemao received an offer from Penn State earlier in the day, his first from a power conference school, and jumped on the opportunity to play for head coach Mike Rhoades and staff. Gemao plays for Royal Crown High School in Ontario, Canada, and also participated with the University of the Philippines in the NSAC Collegiate Basketball Campus Tour.

Though reports vary, Gemao is listed between 5-foot-11 and 6-foot-2 on various sites and around 170 pounds. While relatively small in stature, his wingspan is listed at 6-foot-3.25.

Gemao became the latest member of Penn State’s 2026 class, where he joins Croatian forward Roko Prkačin and french forward François Wibaut, who both committed on April 5. All three are currently unranked by any major recruiting site.
