Many overseas Filipino workers have lost or experienced disruptions in employment due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Department of Migrant Workers said.
DMW Undersecretary Jainal Rasul Jr. said some workers permanently lost their jobs, while others faced temporary work suspensions.
In response, the government is providing financial assistance worth $200, or about ₱12,100, sourced from the AKSYON Fund, and has simplified the application process to improve access.
Applicants are required to submit a request form, passport copy, proof of overseas employment, and documents showing job loss or work disruption, including certifications, payslips, or termination notices.
Meanwhile, Hans Leo Cacdac said a total of 6,706 Filipinos have been repatriated from the Middle East, including 5,023 OFWs, 1,343 dependents, and 340 tourists and other nationals.
The largest number of returnees came from Dubai, followed by Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Bahrain, Riyadh, Al Khobar, Israel, Jeddah, and Oman.
More arrivals are expected in the coming days as the government continues to assist Filipinos affected by the crisis.
