Filipino restaurant Be More Pacific closes in Houston Heights

Be More Pacific, a Filipino restaurant in the Heights, has closed down, the restaurant announced Tuesday on social media.

“Be More Pacific began as a little food truck in 2012 with a big dream: to bring Filipino food into the culinary mainstream and share the flavors we grew up with. That dream carried us to our first brick-and-mortar in Austin in 2017, and then to Houston in 2020. Against all odds, our Houston location weathered the pandemic and became our final home,” the restaurant posted on Facebook.

The restaurant, which also has karaoke, did not provide a reason for the closure in the Facebook post.

In 2021, Be More Pacific appeared on an episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”

At least 23 restaurants and one bar closed in January and February, according to the Chronicle’s reporting. The 15 closures in January marked the most closures the Chronicle counted in any month over the past year.
