A Filipino national was among five individuals arrested in a nationwide operation led by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement targeting undocumented individuals convicted of serious crimes.
The US Department of Homeland Security said the 20-year-old Filipino had been convicted of two counts of attempted murder and battery with the use of a deadly weapon.
Court records showed the incident stemmed from a dispute in Las Vegas, Nevada in February 2025, where the suspect allegedly stabbed two roommates, including a 70-year-old man who tried to intervene.
The suspect was initially arrested by local police, later released on bail under electronic monitoring, and re-arrested by ICE following a court decision. He is now undergoing deportation proceedings.
Authorities said the operation also led to the arrest of undocumented individuals from Mexico, Cambodia, Guatemala, and Nicaragua with serious criminal records.
The DHS said the crackdown is part of broader efforts to remove high-risk individuals from communities across the United States.
