NEW YORK – The Fil-Am Press Club of New York has elected a new set of officers for the 2026–2028 term, naming veteran journalist Dave Llavanes Jr. as president and multi-awarded broadcast journalist Don Tagala as vice president.
Also elected were Lindy Rosales as secretary and Marilyn Abalos as treasurer.
Llavanes currently serves as a correspondent for GMA News. He began his journalism career with Bombo Radyo Philippines before joining ABS-CBN’s DZMM Radyo Patrol and DZBB Super Radyo. He later worked as a segment producer for GMA News and Public Affairs and eventually became a senior war and disaster correspondent for IBC-13.
Before migrating to the United States, Llavanes also served as a senior political reporter assigned to the House of Representatives of the Philippines. In 2003, he was recognized by the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption as the Philippines’ Outstanding Television Journalist.
Meanwhile, Tagala is a reporter for Bilyonaryo News Channel and previously worked as a journalist and television correspondent for ABS-CBN covering the Filipino diaspora in North America. He is widely known for his coverage of Filipino community events, immigration issues, entertainment, and breaking news stories across the United States.
Both Llavanes and Tagala’s mothers are natives of Camarines Norte in the Bicol Region.
Also elected to the board of directors were Marivir Montebon, Ricky Rillera, Myrna Gutierrez, Troi Santos, and outgoing FAPCNY president Momar Visaya.
Founded in 2011, the Fil-Am Press Club of New York remains the only Filipino American press club on the East Coast of the United States.
