The United Arab Emirates has expanded its humanitarian assistance for communities affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao, delivering food and drinking water to families in Sarangani Province.

According to the UAE’s state news agency, members of the UAE response team, led by UAE Ambassador to the Philippines Mohamed Obaid Salem Al Qatam Alzaabi, distributed around 700 food parcels and 500 gallons of potable water to affected residents in coordination with local authorities.

The assistance forms part of the UAE’s ongoing emergency response following the powerful earthquake that struck Mindanao and caused deaths, injuries, and widespread damage in several areas.

The UAE said the next phase of its relief operations will include the distribution of more than 20,000 food parcels and 20,000 gallons of drinking water to help meet the needs of affected communities and support recovery efforts.

Members of the UAE response team also conducted field visits to several affected areas to assess conditions on the ground and identify the immediate humanitarian needs of residents.

The UAE said the initiative reflects its commitment to providing assistance to communities affected by natural disasters and strengthening international humanitarian cooperation.

The Middle Eastern nation earlier expressed solidarity with the Philippines following the earthquake and extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster.
