Gonda, a seasoned ultrarunner with more than 80 ultramarathon and ultra-distance events under her belt, has consistently made her mark in endurance racing. Among her notable achievements is an eighth-place finish in the 2025 National Grand Prix Ultramarathon Women’s Individual Championship in Italy, as well as completing 228.197 kilometers at the 2026 GOMU 48-Hour World Championships.

Meanwhile, 46-year-old Castro, a member of the GS Maiano running club, continues to build an impressive running resume.

He previously placed second in an 8-hour ultramarathon and has competed in several demanding races, including the 6-hour ultramarathon in Pistoia and the 100 km Del Passatore, which he finished in 10 hours, 18 minutes, and 22 seconds, earning him recognition as a “first Filipino finisher.” He has also completed the Ultra Trail Via degli Dei and the challenging Chianti race.

For Gonda and Castro, victory goes beyond medals and rankings. Their performances underscore a deeper message of resilience—showing that with discipline, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment, even the most grueling endurance challenges can be conquered. — ALONA COCHON
