Support among Filipinos for Vice President Sara Duterte to face a Senate impeachment trial increased to 74% in April, up from 69% in March, according to the latest OCTA Research survey released.
Based on the Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey conducted from April 20 to 24, 74% of respondents said Duterte should undergo trial before the Senate acting as an impeachment court, while 21% disagreed and 4% remained undecided.
The latest figure reflects a five-percentage-point increase from the previous month.
The House of Representatives impeached Duterte on May 11 over allegations of culpable violation of the Constitution, graft and corruption, betrayal of public trust, bribery, and other high crimes. The Senate has since convened as an impeachment court and is expected to begin proceedings on July 6.
Support for holding a Senate trial remained high across regions, led by the Visayas at 82%, followed by the National Capital Region at 81% and Balance Luzon at 77%.
Mindanao recorded the lowest support at 58%, alongside the highest opposition rate at 41%. OCTA described the “Mindanao divergence” as the most notable regional finding, citing the area’s historical association with the Duterte family’s political base.
Across socioeconomic classes, support remained relatively stable: 74% among Class ABC, 75% among Class D, and 73% among Class E.
OCTA clarified that the survey measured support for the impeachment process itself and should not be interpreted as a judgment on Duterte’s guilt or possible conviction.
The non-commissioned survey covered 1,200 adult Filipinos through face-to-face interviews, with a margin of error of ±3% at the 95% confidence level. Subnational estimates carry a ±6% margin of error.
The poll also noted that the latest results remain lower than the 80% recorded in July 2025 and the 78% in April 2025 in earlier impeachment-related surveys, though OCTA said these were conducted under different conditions and should not be treated as a direct trend line.
