Mitsubishi Motors PH to showcase Outlander PHEV at PIMS 2026

by Philippine Chronicle

Mitsubishi is ready to get its adventure on at the 2026 Philippine International Auto Show. We’re not talking about the cherished family AUV, though; what Mitsubishi is going for is Premium Adventure at PIMS.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has just dropped a teaser for what they plan to showcase at PIMS, and judging by the half-shaded image of the vehicle, it’s going to be the Outlander PHEV.

The Outlander PHEV has been Mitsubishi’s flagship electrified nameplate that has made several appearances in PIMS. Preceding generations were offered (albeit priced fairly high for the PHEV variant), but this will be the first time that they will showcase the current generation Outlander, which has been present in foreign markets for a few years now.

In the press release, Mitsubishi says they want to give visitors an “immersive brand experience” with what they want to showcase, and that the Premium Adventure theme is derived from the Forever Adventure theme that the brand used at the Japan Mobility Show last year. They will present some adventure-ready vehicles at the show, perhaps hinting at some outdoor-themed customization that they have done for their past displays at PIMS.

As for the Outlander PHEV, the latest specs from the Department of Energy (DOE) say the model would likely get dual electric motors (front and rear) as well as a 2.4-liter 4B12 gasoline engine. Total output would be about 255 PS, and total torque would be at 450 Nm. However, other markets come with more power at 306 PS.

The battery pack is a 22.7 kWh lithium-ion unit that can power the car for up to 84 kilometers on a full charge based on the WLTP cycle. More importantly, its total system range in other markets is listed at up to 844 km.

Based on the current sales data from CAMPI, Mitsubishi had a tough April as sales took a significant hit due to the shift towards electric and electrified models (brought about by the Middle East conflict). The Outlander PHEV is interesting, but a rather premium option. We had hoped that Mitsubishi would instead show the Xpander HEV that is already available in Thailand, but it seems Filipino customers will have to wait longer for that.

Upon second glance at the photo teaser, however, we spotted there was an unusual reflection: a Mitsubishi Xforce! Could it be the HEV model? Looks like we have to visit the Mitsubishi booth at the Philippine International Motor Show happening from June 4 to 7 at the World Trade Center Manila.
