MANILA — Even as impeachment threats, political chaos, and intense public scrutiny rock the Senate, Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano is calling on officials and employees to stay laser-focused and push forward with their duties.

In a rallying speech on Thursday to department heads and committee secretaries, Cayetano urged the Senate workforce to rise above the turmoil and deliver their best performance in the coming difficult weeks.

“Let’s be the best version of ourselves in the next few days, in the next few weeks with the impeachment [proceedings]. That’s all I ask of you. From there, let’s evolve together,” he said on May 14.
Cayetano openly acknowledged the tough environment gripping the chamber, describing a world of constant crises where everything moves instantly and multitasking has become essential.
“There are things beyond our control, but the preparation is there. We all try to give our best despite the circumstances,” he added.

The newly elected Senate chief stressed that the institution’s work must continue uninterrupted, regardless of who holds the top leadership posts. He called for strong teamwork and unity, saying the Senate’s dignity must be protected above partisan battles.
“Dignity is very important. That’s why what we’re fighting here is the dignity of the Senate,” Cayetano emphasized. “Kailangan natin mag-multitask. We all try to give our best despite the circumstances.”
He assured staff that while challenges mount, he will continue to lead the chamber through the storm.
Cayetano’s message was clear: No matter how fierce the political battles get, the Senate must keep moving and serving the Filipino people.
