Veronica “Kitty” Duterte has come to the defense of her sister, Vice President Sara Duterte, amid ongoing impeachment proceedings.
In an interview, Kitty said, “She’s not a thief,” expressing confidence in her sister’s integrity despite the allegations.
Kitty is currently in The Hague to visit their father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, who is detained over allegations linked to his anti-drug campaign.
She said she has not discussed the impeachment developments with him, citing concern over adding to his burden.
The House impeachment proceedings against the vice president stem from allegations including misuse of confidential funds, threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his family, and unexplained wealth.
The hearings, conducted by the House Committee on Justice, are set to continue, with the next session scheduled for May 4.
Kitty also shared updates on her father’s condition and said she will return to Manila soon to continue her studies.
