The remains of Lucille Jean Gershovich, who was killed in a missile attack in Haifa, Israel, have arrived in the Philippines, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The DFA said Gershovich’s remains arrived in Manila on April 16 and were received by her family.
She was killed on April 5 after a missile struck a residential area in Haifa amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The agency said it extended assistance to the victim’s family, in line with the commitment of Ma. Theresa Lazaro.
“Following through on the commitment, the DFA extended all necessary assistance to the family, including facilitating the shipment of Mrs. Gershovich’s remains from Israel to her home province in Lanao del Norte,” the DFA said.
The assistance was coordinated through the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv, the Office of the Undersecretary for Migration Affairs, and the Consular Office in Clarin, as the government continues to support Filipinos affected by the ongoing conflict.
