The Embassy of the Philippines in the United Arab Emirates has renewed its warning to Filipinos against dealing with third parties or agents offering repatriation assistance in exchange for payment.
In an advisory, the embassy said Filipinos should avoid transacting with individuals or groups claiming they can facilitate a return to the Philippines for a fee.
“Repatriation assistance extended by the Philippine Government is provided free of charge, and no payment is required at any stage of the process,” the embassy said.
The embassy also warned that any person, organization or agency falsely presenting itself as part of the Philippine government’s repatriation efforts, or soliciting money from Filipino nationals, could face legal action.
The advisory comes as concerns grow over unauthorized individuals allegedly charging Filipinos for supposed repatriation arrangements.
Filipinos in the United Arab Emirates seeking immediate assistance may contact the embassy through its Assistance-to-Nationals hotlines, as well as the hotline of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
The embassy may also be reached through its official email accounts for consular, labor and verification concerns.
