69% of Filipinos back impeachment trial vs VP Sara Duterte — OCTA survey

A majority of Filipinos support holding an impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte, according to the latest Tugon ng Masa survey by OCTA Research.

The survey, conducted from March 19 to 25, found that 69% of adult Filipinos believe Duterte should face an impeachment trial to address allegations against her. Meanwhile, 28% disagreed and 3% remained undecided.

Support was strongest in the Visayas at 83%, followed by the National Capital Region at 81% and Balance Luzon at 69%. Mindanao posted the lowest support at 61% and the highest opposition at 38%.

Across socioeconomic classes, a majority favored the trial, though support was lowest among Class E respondents at 54%.

By age group, backing was highest among Filipinos aged 18 to 24 at 77%, followed by those aged 35 to 44 at 73%. Support dipped among respondents aged 45 to 54 at 60%.

The survey also showed stronger support in rural areas at 75%, compared to 63% in urban areas. Female respondents were slightly more supportive at 70%, compared to 68% among males.

Awareness of the impeachment case was high, with 87% of respondents saying they were aware, while 12% said they were not and 1% were undecided.

The non-commissioned survey polled 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above through face-to-face interviews. It has a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level, with ±6% for subnational estimates covering Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
