The Streamer Redefining Gaming, Business, and Fashion

by Philippine Chronicle

Rachell Hofstetter, better known as Valkyrae, has spent the past decade redefining what it means to be a gaming creator. What began as a passion for video games has become one of the industry’s defining creator success stories. Today, the half-Filipina creator is a co-owner of 100 Thieves, a media entrepreneur, one of gaming’s biggest female streamers, and an emerging fashion week fixture—proving her influence extends far beyond the screen.

Changing the Game

Long before creator entrepreneurship became commonplace, Valkyrae was proving that gaming personalities could command audiences on the same scale as mainstream entertainers. During the pandemic, when gaming and livestreaming reached unprecedented heights, she emerged as one of the platform’s biggest stars, averaging more than 100,000 viewers per stream and cementing herself as one of the defining faces of gaming’s streaming boom.

Her meteoric rise eventually led to an exclusive streaming deal with YouTube, where she became one of the platform’s top female creators. The industry quickly recognized her impact: she won Content Creator of the Year at The Game Awards in 2020, earned a spot on Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2022, Gold House’s A1 Honor for Most Impactful in Gaming & Sports at the Gold Gala, and most recently made the TIME100 Creators List this year.

But Valkyrae’s influence extends beyond audiences. In 2021, 100 Thieves founder Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag named her co-owner of the esports organization, making her one of the few women to hold a leadership role within one of gaming’s biggest brands. It marked a shift from simply participating in the industry to helping shape its future.

Life Beyond Streaming

Streaming may have introduced Valkyrae to millions, but it has never been the limit of her ambitions. Over the years, she’s crossed into entertainment through appearances in music videos such as Bella Poarch’s “Inferno” and “Dolls,” while also collaborating with Filipino-Australian singer Ylona Garcia on “Echoes.” These projects signaled that her influence was beginning to resonate beyond gaming communities.

That evolution naturally led to HiHi Studios, the media and IP company she launched in early 2025. Named after the signature greeting that opens her livestreams, the studio develops original comics, animation, television, and film projects. Rather than simply creating content for audiences, Valkyrae is now investing in the stories themselves—expanding her role from creator to creative executive.

Cross-Industry

It was only a matter of time before fashion took notice. Valkyrae made her fashion week debut with Coach before appearing at Diesel in Milan, joining a growing wave of gaming creators crossing into luxury and designer spaces. Once largely confined to gaming conventions and streaming setups, creators like Valkyrae are increasingly finding themselves at the intersection of entertainment, culture, and style.

Whether she’s embracing effortless off-duty dressing or a more refined, high-fashion aesthetic, her presence at fashion week signals gaming’s growing place within the broader cultural conversation.

Valkyrae may have started as a woman behind a screen, but her influence was never meant to stay there. What sets her apart isn’t just the millions of viewers she’s amassed or the accolades she’s earned, but her willingness to keep evolving. Every new venture expands what people expect from a gaming creator. And as the lines between gaming, entertainment, business, and fashion continue to blur, Valkyrae is helping define that evolution.

Stay tuned as Valkyrae continues to shape the future of gaming, entertainment, and culture—both on and off the screen.
