Rodrigo described “The Cure” as the “thesis statement” of her forthcoming album, adding that the song “made the whole album click” for her.
The music video, released alongside the track, shows Rodrigo unraveling emotionally while searching for relief from heartbreak and confusion.
“The Cure” serves as the second single from “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,” which is scheduled for release on June 12, a date that coincides with Independence Day in the Philippines.
The upcoming album follows Rodrigo’s 2023 sophomore record “Guts” and her breakout debut “Sour.”
Last month, Rodrigo released the album’s lead single “Drop Dead,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and featured a music video filmed inside the Palace of Versailles in France.
The Grammy-winning singer also recently appeared on Saturday Night Live, where she performed “Drop Dead” and debuted another track titled “Begged.”
Rodrigo is also preparing for her upcoming “Unraveled Tour,” which is set to begin later this year in support of the new album. /ra
