Nampa Mayor Rick Hogaboam has died after experiencing a medical emergency on Wednesday night, according to a statement from his office.

The statement asked the community to keep Hogaboam’s family and loved ones “in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”

“As we begin to mourn this unbelievable loss, please provide grace while we navigate the loss of not only our mayor, but also our friend,” the statement said.

More details about the emergency were provided in a statement from the Treasure Valley Partnership, a local coalition of mayors and county commissioners.

The group said it was hosting its second Regional Town Hall on Wednesday, March 18, at Eagle City Hall when Hogaboam experienced a medical emergency while speaking at around 6:45 p.m. The statement said Eagle Mayor Brad Pike, a former firefighter who was sitting to Hogaboam’s right, noticed what was happening and “immediately responded to Mayor Hogaboam by administering CPR.”

Treasure Valley Partnership staff called 911, the statement said, and the town hall meeting was adjourned, and the room was cleared.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to Eagle, Eagle Fire District, and Ada County EMS services, responded quickly and took over care of Hogaboam, according to the statement.

The Treasure Valley Partnership’s members also issued a statement mourning Hogaboam’s death.

“On behalf of every mayor and county commissioner in our Partnership, and of our citizens, we are heartbroken to have lost one of our esteemed colleagues. Rick Hogaboam was an exemplary public servant, a dedicated family man, and a true friend,” the statement said.

The statement added that Hogaboam was new to the partnership this year as a mayor, but had worked for the city of Nampa and Canyon County, and was well known among local leaders.

“Our prayers are with Rick’s family and the Nampa community at this time,” the statement said.

The City of Nampa announced Thursday evening that the memorial service for Mayor Hogaboam will be held on Tuesday, March 31, at 5:00 p.m. at the Ford Idaho Center.
