For Globe, supporting Philippine entertainment has long gone beyond connectivity. Through the years, the digital solutions leader has helped build a wider, safer and more sustainable space for Filipino stories to be created, shared, protected and celebrated.
This continuing commitment comes into focus anew as Globe renews its partnership with the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) for the 9th Entertainment Editors’ Choice, more popularly known as The Eddys. Organized by SPEEd, the annual awards night honors the best in Philippine cinema, recognizing the actors, filmmakers, writers, producers and technical artists whose work continues to shape the industry.
Set for July 5 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Newport World Resorts, The 9th Eddys will once again gather leading names in film and entertainment for a night of recognition, gratitude and celebration. For SPEEd, Globe’s support carries special meaning, having been one of the award-giving body’s steadfast partners since its first year.

“The Eddys has always been about honoring the people who keep Philippine cinema alive, and Globe has been with us from the beginning in recognizing that Filipino stories deserve every platform, protection and opportunity to flourish,” said SPEEd president Tessa Mauricio-Arriola. “This partnership reminds us that entertainment is not only about what audiences see on screen. It is also about the ecosystem that allows artists, producers, media, brands and audiences to support one another.”
For Maria Yolanda “Yoly” Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, supporting entertainment is also part of Globe’s larger purpose of using technology and advocacy to create lasting positive impact.
“Filipino stories are powerful because they carry our values, our dreams and our shared experiences as a people,” Crisanto said. “At Globe, we believe that supporting the entertainment industry means helping create opportunities for artists and content creators, while also encouraging audiences to consume content responsibly. Through our partnership with The Eddys and through advocacies such as #PlayItRight, we hope to continue championing creativity, respect for intellectual property and the many people whose hard work brings these stories to life.”
Globe’s relationship with Philippine entertainment has taken many forms over the years. Through #PlayItRight, its anti-piracy advocacy, the company has consistently encouraged Filipinos to consume content through legitimate platforms, reminding audiences that every legal stream, download or ticket purchase helps protect the livelihood of the many people behind every film, series, song or digital work.
The campaign also underscores the realities of modern viewing habits. In a time when content is easier than ever to access, Globe has helped bring attention to the responsibility that comes with every click. By encouraging the public to choose legitimate sources, #PlayItRight supports intellectual property rights while helping protect consumers from risks often associated with illegal sites, including malware and other cybersecurity threats.
As SPEEd celebrates the year’s finest achievements in cinema, the partnership also honors the larger movement to strengthen Philippine entertainment from every side, from creation to distribution, from legitimate access to audience engagement, and from artistic recognition to industry sustainability.
Now on its ninth year, The Eddys continues to uphold the judgment of the country’s entertainment editors, whose daily work places them in close conversation with the industry’s artists, producers, platforms and audiences. With Globe once again standing with SPEEd, this year’s awards night becomes not only a celebration of excellence but also a reminder that Filipino stories are worth championing, protecting and bringing to more people.
