Marriott Bonvoy
SINGAPORE — Marriott Bonvoy has named Filipino tennis player Alex Eala the face of its “Tennis The World” campaign in Asia Pacific excluding China, expanding a sports marketing initiative built around tennis, travel and member experiences.
Marriott International announced the partnership as Eala’s profile continues to rise following a series of career milestones. The company said Eala will serve as an ambassador for “Tennis The World” in the region, with future activities expected to connect Marriott Bonvoy members with professional tennis and with Eala. Financial terms and the duration of the agreement were not disclosed.
“Travel has always been such a meaningful part of my journey as a tennis player,” Eala said in announcing the partnership, noting that competing internationally has exposed her to different places, cultures and people.
The campaign also extends Marriott Bonvoy’s relationship with the Australian Open. The company says members may receive access to tennis-related benefits, including advance ticket opportunities, hospitality and other experiences. The 2027 Australian Open is scheduled for Jan. 11-31 in Melbourne.
Eala enters the partnership after the biggest tour-level victory of her career. She defeated Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 in the rain-delayed Mubadala DC Open final, becoming the first player from the Philippines to win a WTA Tour singles title.
Her Washington run also included victories over Zheng Qinwen, Leylah Fernandez, Elina Svitolina and Naomi Osaka. The title lifted Eala to a career-high No. 20 in the WTA rankings, making her the first Filipina to enter the Top 20.
She later reached the round of 16 at the National Bank Open in Toronto before losing to Belinda Bencic. The Marriott partnership adds to Eala’s growing commercial profile as her results continue to raise the international visibility of Philippine tennis.
It also positions her prominently in Marriott’s regional campaign ahead of Melbourne.
