We’re continuing to track a slow-moving nor’easter that will be with us through late Monday and into early Tuesday. That means we’re not done with the rain, wind or coastal impacts just yet. So lets break down the biggest threats from this storm:
HEAVY RAIN
We’ve already had some flooding concerns with this storm, and additional rain over the next few days could lead to more issues. By the time the storm finally wraps up, some areas could see rainfall totals as high as 6″.
STRONG WIND GUSTS
The wind will remain another concern through the weekend. A Wind Advisory is in effect for inland areas through 8 AM Sunday, where gusts could reach 50 mph. Along the coast, Cape and Islands, a High Wind Warning continues through 8 AM Sunday, with gusts up to 60 mph possible. Damage reports continue to come in, with some power outages as well. This will continue to be a concern, even after the strongest winds subside.
COASTAL CONCERNS
Along the coast, we’ll also be watching the high tides tonight and again Sunday. A Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect through 8 PM Sunday, with additional coastal flooding possible. Seas could build to 10 to 20 feet, bringing high surf, beach erosion and dangerous rip currents.
SLOW IMPROVEMENTS
Unfortunately, improvements will be slow. It stays wet, windy and cool through Monday night, with highs only in the upper 50s to lower 60s over the next few days.
Showers will finally taper off early Tuesday as the nor’easter weakens and pulls away. Then we get a much needed change by Wednesday, with sunshine returning and highs climbing back into the 70s.
