The Department of Migrant Workers has renewed its warning against fake overseas job offers circulating on social media, urging aspiring overseas Filipino workers to verify recruiters before applying or paying fees.
According to the DMW, applicants should be cautious of online recruitment posts promising quick deployment, high salaries, and simplified processing in exchange for large payments.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac reminded the public that the presence of an office, social media page, or foreign nationals in a recruitment operation does not automatically mean it is legitimate.
The DMW said applicants should always verify whether recruiters and agencies hold valid licenses from the government and ensure that personnel involved in recruitment activities are properly registered.
The agency also emphasized that overseas workers should be processed for a working visa and not a tourist visa before leaving the country.
Authorities advised applicants to carefully review contracts, supporting documents, and payment requirements before entering into any transaction.
The DMW further urged jobseekers to demand official receipts for all payments and keep copies of relevant documents for their protection.
Individuals who encounter suspicious recruitment activities may report them through the DMW Anti-Illegal Recruitment and DMW AIRTIP Facebook pages.
