The Department of Tourism (DOT) is considering tapping Filipino girl group BINI as the country’s tourism ambassadors following their historic performance at the Coachella Festival.
Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay said the department plans to reach out to the group, which recently became the first all-Filipino act to perform at Coachella.
“We’re going to talk to them. ‘Di pa sila sumasagot because they are traveling,” Angara-Mathay told reporters.
“But we are so proud that they unfurled the [Philippine] flag at Coachella,” she added.
Angara-Mathay said the DOT continues to recognize Filipino talents who bring pride to the country on the global stage.
“We always put value in our talents to make a name for themselves and who are proud to wave our flag at the international stage,” she said.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives have also passed resolutions commending BINI for their Coachella performance.
