Dubai Police warned residents against using or trading fireworks during the Eid Al Adha holidays, stressing that the materials pose serious dangers to public safety and can cause severe injuries and permanent disabilities.
Authorities said fireworks, often treated as harmless entertainment during celebrations, can quickly become dangerous and lead to burns, amputations, permanent loss of body parts, and damage to property.
Dubai Police urged the public to avoid buying fireworks from illegal sellers and to comply with safety laws during the festive season.
The force also reminded residents that Federal Decree Law No. 17 of 2019 on weapons, ammunition, explosives, and hazardous materials imposes strict penalties against illegal fireworks activities.
Under Article 54 of the law, anyone caught trading, importing, exporting, manufacturing, or transporting fireworks without a license may face imprisonment of at least one year and fines starting at Dh100,000, or both penalties.
Authorities said the warning forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and prevent accidents during Eid celebrations across the UAE.
