This year’s Gold Gala saw a number of Filipino Hollywood stars walk the red carpet.
The gala, founded by non-profit organization Gold House, celebrates the Asian Pacific changemakers excelling across a range of industries, including film, television, sports, and more. Previously dubbed the “Asian Met Gala,” the evening saw multiple high-profile guests join in on the festivities. The Pitt co-stars Amielynn Abellera and Kristin Villanueva, who play ER nurses Perlah and Princess, respectively on the medical drama, got ready for the gala together. While Abellera opted for a Vaishali gown, Villanueva chose to spend the evening in a custom gown from Filipino designer Puey Quiñones.
The leads of the upcoming Dreamworks film, Forgotten Island, also took the Gold Gala stage as presenters. Liza Soberano and H.E.R. shared an exclusive clip from the Philippine-centric animated feature, which is set to hit Philippine cinemas this September. Forgotten Island director Januel Mercado was also at the gala, with the Filipino filmmaker posting a glambot video with Soberano on the carpet. “Always proud to celebrate this community,” Soberano wrote in an Instagram post celebrating the event.
The gala kicked off with an introduction from Saturday Night Live alum Bowen Yang, with an array of Asian stars following suit. KPop Demon Hunters star EJAE introduced a video celebrating Gold House’s Gold 100 Power List, which honored the achievements of stars like Heated Rivalry’s Hudson Williams, director Chloe Zhao, Laufey, and girl group KATSEYE. A number of accolades were given to the evening’s guests, but Jet Li took home the Gold Legend honor award, celebrating his lifetime contributions to the worlds of film and martial arts.
