The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration marked its 44th anniversary on May 1, reaffirming its commitment to support overseas Filipino workers through expanded welfare and reintegration programs.
The celebration was held at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City, led by Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and OWWA Administrator PY Caunan.
In his message, Cacdac underscored the importance of strengthening services for OFWs, particularly amid ongoing global challenges affecting Filipino workers abroad.
The agency highlighted its “Road to 50” campaign, which focuses on improving welfare, health, wellness, and membership services as it prepares for its 50th anniversary.
“Hindi ito basta selebrasyon lang. Ito ay responsibilidad—to do better, to respond faster, to serve with greater care,” the agency said in its anniversary message.
Officials emphasized that OWWA’s role goes beyond providing assistance, noting that it serves as a key support system for millions of Filipinos working overseas.
Also present during the event were DMW Undersecretary Darlene Pajarito, Party-list Representatives Johanne Bautista and Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino, and Presidential Communications Office Assistant Secretary Art Los Baños, along with current and former OWWA officials and staff.
OWWA said it remains committed to improving service delivery and ensuring that OFWs and their families receive timely and responsive support wherever they are in the world.
