Filipino food is getting another taste of global recognition.

Chicken inasal, pork sinigang and adobong manok made it to TasteAtlas’ April 2026 rankings, giving the Philippines another culinary win on the world stage.

Chicken inasal ranked No. 40 among the world’s best dishes and was named the top chicken dish in Southeast Asia. Adobong manok placed No. 7 in the same regional chicken category.

Pork sinigang also made the global list, landing at No. 52. TasteAtlas cited Max’s Restaurant as one of the places serving an “iconic” version of the sour and savory Filipino soup.

Chicken inasal, a grilled favorite from Western Visayas, is known for its smoky flavor and marinade of vinegar, lemongrass, garlic and ginger. During grilling, the chicken is brushed with annatto oil, giving it its golden color and peppery taste.

Pork sinigang, meanwhile, gets its signature tang from tamarind, with pork cuts simmered in a rich, sour broth.

Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay welcomed the recognition, saying Filipino cuisine reflects the country’s identity and helps drive cultural tourism.

“Filipino cuisine has always been a powerful expression of our identity and a meaningful driver of cultural tourism,” she said.

She said global citations for Filipino dishes also help farmers, food producers, chefs and small businesses benefit from rising interest in Philippine cuisine. (PNA)
