Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has imposed a Dh30,000 fine on a private notary for failing to comply with regulations governing the profession, as authorities step up oversight of legal services in the emirate.
The penalty was issued by the Private Notary Affairs Committee during a meeting chaired by Yousef Saeed Al Abri, where performance reports and compliance standards were reviewed.
Officials said the action is part of broader efforts to ensure accuracy in legal transactions and protect the rights of all parties involved.
“The private notary system is built on reliability and accuracy, ensuring the integrity of transactions,” the committee said, stressing the need for full compliance with approved laws and regulations.
Authorities added that enforcement measures are necessary to maintain the credibility of the sector and uphold professional standards.
During the same meeting, the committee approved the licensing of a new notary office and the renewal of several existing licenses, as well as the registration of additional practitioners within authorised law firms.
The developments bring the total number of private notaries in Abu Dhabi to 53, operating across 41 licensed law firms, expanding access to services while strengthening regulatory oversight.
