Office of the President approves rescheduled travel of VP Sara Duterte

The Office of the President (OP) has approved the rescheduled travel of Vice President Sara Duterte, Malacañang confirmed.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said the approval has been granted, with the travel period set from May 2 to 15.

“Confirmed,” Castro told reporters when asked about the clearance issued by the OP.

However, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) said it has no confirmation yet on whether Duterte will actually leave the country on May 2.

Duterte earlier submitted a travel request covering April 23 to May 15, which was initially approved. She later said the approval came at the last minute and opted to file a new request due to changes in her plans.

Malacañang previously denied claims of a “last-minute” approval, saying travel authorities are typically issued a day before departure.

The Vice President has recently skipped hearings conducted by the House Committee on Justice on impeachment complaints filed against her.

The House panel is set to convene again on May 4 to finalize its committee report, including the Articles of Impeachment from consolidated complaints.
