OFWs continue to return home as Middle East tensions persist

by Philippine Chronicle

The Philippine government continues to assist overseas Filipino workers and their families returning from the Middle East amid ongoing regional tensions.

A total of 196 OFWs from Kuwait safely arrived in the country on April 24 aboard a commercial flight and were immediately provided financial aid, transportation, and temporary shelter.

Authorities said the repatriation effort remains in full swing, with a total of 7,604 OFWs and their dependents brought back to the Philippines from March 5 to April 24.

Of this number, 6,981 were repatriated through government-funded efforts, including 5,605 OFWs and 1,376 dependents.

The initiative is being carried out under the directive of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure the safety of Filipinos abroad and support their reintegration upon return.

Officials said assistance programs remain in place to help returning workers rebuild their livelihoods as the situation in the Middle East continues to evolve.
