President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has accepted the resignation of National Security Adviser Eduardo Año, Malacañang announced.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said Año decided to retire from public service after decades in government and the military.
“We thank Secretary Año for his dedicated and distinguished service to the Filipino people,” Castro said, noting his role in strengthening the country’s national security framework, advancing counterterrorism and internal security efforts, and enhancing coordination across the security sector.
She added that Año’s leadership helped maintain stability amid evolving regional and global challenges.
Marcos has appointed former Armed Forces chief Eduardo Oban Jr. as the new National Security Adviser.
A member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1979, Oban brings extensive experience in military operations, defense planning, and national security. He previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans (J5) and headed the Visiting Forces Agreement Commission.
The Palace said the President is confident Oban will provide steady leadership and ensure continuity in advancing the country’s national security priorities.
