(KRON) — It was a proud moment for Pinoys worldwide. BINI made history as the first Filipino act to perform at the world‑renowned Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
The eight-member P-pop group delivered a groundbreaking 45-minute set on Friday at the Mojave Stage — representing their Filipino heritage. BINI performed several songs in Tagalog, including hits like “Karera” and “Pantropiko.”
Maloi, Sheena, Gwen, Aiah, Stacey, Jhoanna, Mikha and Colet walked onto the stage in a “salakot,” a traditional Filipino hat (pictured below).

BINI’s performance was well-received online — at least in terms of viewership.
By Sunday morning, according to Coachella’s official Instagram, BINI garnered 21.1 million views on a clip of their set. Only Saturday headliner Justin Bieber’s clip had more at the time, with 22.6 million views.
Among all the Weekend 1 performances posted on Coachella’s YouTube, as of Monday afternoon, only seven videos surpassed 1 million views. BINI performances accounted for two of them: “Pantropiko” and “Blush.”
One of those views apparently came from K-pop legend G-Dragon, which got one of the BINI members, Sheena, excited in an X post. “NAMAN SAKIN JUSKO PO GD SABI NA EH BLOOM KA BLOOM KA TALAGA HUHUHUHUHU FIRST WIN KAY GD AFTER MABALIW LAST NIGHT,” she wrote in Tagalog, the native language of the Philippines.
The post translates, in part, to “Good morning to me, oh my gosh” and adds that she went crazy Sunday night at Coachella after seeing G-Dragon live with BIGBANG.
BINI will return to Coachella for Weekend 2, scheduled for a performance on Friday, April 17.
