The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the rioting, attempted vandalism and attacks targeting its embassy and the residence office of its head of mission in Damascus.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the incidents and reaffirmed the UAE’s condemnation of attacks on its diplomatic facilities and national symbols.

The ministry stressed the need to protect diplomatic premises, missions and personnel in accordance with international law, particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees the inviolability of diplomatic buildings and the safety of embassy staff.

The UAE also called on the Syrian Arab Republic to fulfill its responsibilities by securing the embassy and its personnel, investigating the attacks, preventing similar incidents and taking legal action against those responsible.
