12 injured in Abu Dhabi after air defense interceptions cause falling debris

by Philippine Chronicle

Twelve people were injured in the Ajban area after debris fell following the interception of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles by the UAE’s air defense systems, authorities reported.

According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, six Nepali nationals and five Indian nationals sustained minor to moderate injuries, while another Nepali national suffered serious injuries.

The injuries were recorded as part of an ongoing assessment of the incident, which occurred after air defense systems successfully neutralized aerial threats, causing debris to fall in parts of the emirate.
Authorities said emergency response teams acted promptly to secure affected areas and provide medical assistance to those injured. The UAE Ministry of Defence earlier confirmed that air defense systems intercepted missile and drone threats, with sounds heard in some areas related to defense operations.

Officials also addressed falling debris at the Habshan gas facilities, where operations were temporarily halted after a fire, though no injuries were reported at that site.

Abu Dhabi authorities urged the public to rely only on verified information from official sources and to avoid spreading rumors or unconfirmed reports.
