The Philippine Embassy in Italy honored Filipino graduates and Italy-based athletes who brought pride to the country at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, highlighting the achievements of second- and third-generation Filipinos and Filipino-Italians in academics and sports.

Held at the Embassy in Rome, the recognition ceremony forms part of its continuing efforts to promote education, leadership, and excellence within the Filipino community in Italy.

A total of 30 Filipino graduates from universities and vocational institutions across Italy were recognized during the event. The honorees came from cities including Rome, Florence, Messina, Calabria, and Lugano, and represented various fields such as engineering, healthcare, business and finance, social sciences, information technology, applied sciences, and creative media.

The Embassy said the recognition aims to inspire Filipino youth abroad to pursue higher education and professional careers while staying connected to their cultural roots.

Also honored were five Italy-based athletes who represented the Philippines in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, where they won medals for the country.

In his message, Ambassador Neal Imperial said the achievements of the graduates and athletes reflect the resilience, discipline, and aspirations of the Filipino diaspora.

He added that their success serves as inspiration for younger generations of Filipinos in Italy, proving that they can excel in different fields while making meaningful contributions to their communities.

Imperial also congratulated the parents and families of the honorees, recognizing their sacrifices and unwavering support behind each achievement.

Now on its third edition, the tribute continues to grow as a platform for recognition and inspiration. The first ceremony in December 2024 honored 32 individuals, followed by 38 honorees in 2025.

This year’s edition further underscores the Embassy’s commitment to encouraging excellence, leadership, and national pride among Filipino youth in Italy.
