MANILA, Philippines — Listed poultry and feed manufacturer Vitarich Corp. saw its net income plunge by more than half in the first nine months of 2025, reversing the strong rebound posted in the second quarter.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the company said its net income fell by 53.5 percent to P120.6 million from P259.2 million a year earlier.
“Higher operating expenses related to marketing activities, freight and handling, corporate events and employee training programs contributed to the decline in profitability,” Vitarich said.
The weaker nine-month performance contrasts with the second quarter, when Vitarich’s net income rebounded to P190.6 million from a P38.1 million net loss a year earlier.
That earlier improvement was driven by higher food sales, improved farm efficiencies and lower raw material costs.
Total revenues for the January to September period also slid by 0.5 percent to P9.17 billion from P9.22 billion in the same period last year.
In contrast, gross profit for the first nine months rose by 4.1 percent to P1.12 billion, boosting gross profit margin to 12.2 percent from 11.6 percent a year earlier.
Operating income, however, fell by 32.4 percent to P240.2 million due to higher operating expenses.
Meanwhile, revenues from Vitarich’s core business segments showed mixed performance.
The food segment generated P5.45 billion, up slightly from the previous year, with gross profit rising by 16 percent to P414.8 million.
On the other hand, the feeds segment posted P3.27 billion in revenues, down by 1.8 percent, though gross profit improved by 17.2 percent to P755.1 million due to lower raw material costs and improved operational efficiency.
Farm revenues slipped to P437.5 million amid lower production volumes, despite a sharp increase in day-old chick prices.
