UST bounces back, keeps UE winless

The University of Santo Tomas bounced back in a big way, holding off the University of the East, 111-99, on Saturday in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament.

Nic Cabañero led the Growling Tigers with 22 points, while Forthsky Padrigao heated up from beyond the arc, scoring 18 points on five triples. Collins Akowe posted a double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds, while Amiel Acido and Mark Llemit each contributed 11 points.

John Abate led UE with 27 points, and Dray Caoile added 23. Precious Momowei also had a strong showing with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

With the win, which came after a loss to National University last Wednesday, UST improved to 3-1, while the Red Warriors remain winless in four games this season.
