The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA returned to its winning ways as it made quick work of San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 25-19, 27-25, 25-23, in the resumption of men’s volleyball action in NCAA Season 100 on Friday at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Sports and Cultural Center in Manila.
Perpetual, now at 8-6, recovered after falling to Mapua University and EAC, while San Sebastian absorbed its third straight defeat and slipped to 4-11.
The third set was a tight affair as the two teams were tied 19-19 before the Golden Stags scored two straight to claim the lead heading into crunch time. A block from the ALTAs and an attack error from the Golden Stags then tied the set before Christian Alba handed the lead anew to San Sebastian.
The neck-and-neck match continued as the Golden Stags led 23-22 before Rai Manaloto, KC Andrade, and an attack error from San Sebastian eventually handed the victory for the Las Piñas-based crew.
Jeff Marapoc led the ALTAs on both ends of the floor with 18 points built on 16 attacks, an ace, and a block, to go with 11 excellent receptions, while Kobe Brian Taguba and John Castil had 14 and 11 points, respectively. Libero Christam Galila, meanwhile, had 15 excellent receptions and five digs.
Kyle Villamor led the Stags anew with 15 points, while Joshua Espenida had 12 points for San Sebastian.
The ALTAs will return to action on Sunday when they take on Arellano University, while San Sebastian will play Mapua on Tuesday.
