OP beats BOC to rule Corpo Ball

by Philippine Chronicle

The Office of the President (OP) escaped a nail-biter over Bureau of Customs (BOC), 82-81, to rule the inaugural season of the Corporate Basketball League (Corpo Ball) on Saturday at the Meralco Gym.

Finals MVP Kenneth De Vega led OP with 12 points laced with seven rebounds, while Allan Martin, whose huge triple late gave OP a crucial one-point lead, and Justin Ramilo chipped in 11 points,  each.

Best Defensive Player Rocky Antonares was also huge with 10 points and eight boards.

The loss spoiled a big game from Adrian Gilbuena, who top-scored for BOC with 19 points, while league MVP Christian Dival and Janov Tria chimed in with 15 points apiece.

En route to the finals, OP eked out a 73-62 win against BDO in the semifinals while BOC pulled off a narrow 79-76 victory over Tanduay to set up an all-government agency championship showdown.

Dival and Antonares made it to the Mythical Five together with Nichole Maulion of Tanduay, Mark Fampulme of Meralco, and Daniel Martin Uy of BDO.
