MANILA, Philippines — Snack giant Monde Nissin Corp. has launched a program to promote sustainable distribution by combining clean transportation with local livelihoods.
Through the Monde Fresh Express program, the company is using electric vehicles to increase bread distribution while empowering local entrepreneurs.
“Through Monde Fresh Express, we are proving that we can achieve growth while creating cleaner air, greener cities, and more inclusive opportunities for Filipinos,” said Henry Soesanto, CEO of Monde Nissin.
“Sustainability is not a side project for us, but core to our responsible growth,” he said.
Monde Nissin said that through Monde Fresh Express, entrepreneurial merchants can serve certain areas more frequently and access multiple alternative consumer touchpoints, thereby improving freshness and availability while reducing food waste.
The company says this responsive service model benefits consumers and increases profitability and sustainability for micro-entrepreneurs.
The company operates a fleet of electric vans to support this shift in its urban delivery routes.
Monde Nissin says the introduction of electric vans not only reduces CO2 emissions and noise pollution but also enables high-frequency, multi-stop service, making it ideal for densely populated urban environments. Entrepreneur-merchants have begun operating under the new model, with pilot testing underway in Luzon, and more merchants will be added this month.
