Heavy Rains and Climate Change Threaten Luzon and Visayas

A low-pressure area west of La Union is bringing heavy rain to parts of Luzon and the Visayas. It might grow into a tropical storm. The southwest monsoon is making the rain heavier.

Places like Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan are getting a lot of rain, which could cause floods and landslides. Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Central Luzon, and many parts of the Visayas will have cloudy skies with some rain and thunderstorms. Mindanao and other parts of Luzon will mostly have good weather.

The rain will likely continue until Thursday in Luzon and Western Visayas. Weather should get better by Friday in Metro Manila and some areas in Bicol.

Climate change is also a big problem for the Philippines. It could cost the country up to 3.5% of its economy by 2050 because of rising sea levels, hotter temperatures, and stronger storms. These changes hurt the economy, nature, and people. If things stay the same, the country could lose a lot of money in the next 25 years.

Recently, sea temperatures have been very high because of a strong El Niño and climate change. Rising sea levels are a serious threat to island countries like the Philippines. Experts say urgent action is needed. They also ask big polluting countries to help poorer nations with money and support.
