LIVE UPDATES: Magnitude 6.9 Cebu earthquake























A strong magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Bogo, Cebu, at 9:59 pm on Tuesday, September 30. The tremor was felt in Cebu and nearby provinces, prompting evacuations, power outages, and class suspensions.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported that damage and aftershocks were expected following the earthquake.

Injured patients and residents in Tabogon, Cebu, are rescued and treated at the Tabogon Infirmary after a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck the province on Tuesday, September 30.

Call for medical volunteers

The province of Cebu is calling for medical volunteers to help in the north following a magnitude 6.9 earthquake that hit the province on Wednesday, September 30.

Earthquake leaves at least 1 dead, many injured

At least one person died and many were injured in the municipality of Medellin in Cebu following the earthquake. There were also reports of “multiple deaths” in another municipality, San Remigio.

Magnitude 6.9 earthquake hits Cebu


San Remigio in Cebu eyes declaring state of calamity

The municipality of San Remigio in Cebu advised the public on early Wednesday morning, October 1, of its intention to declare a state of calamity to “facilitate immediate response and relief efforts.” The declaration will be formalized  in an emergency session by the municipal council “as soon as possible.”

The announcement comes after reports of multiple deaths in the municipality following the earthquake.
