LIST: What sections of EDSA will be rehabilitated from Dec. 28 to Jan. 5?

MANILA, Philippines — Several sections of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) will be temporarily closed from December 28 to January 5 for rehabilitation work that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) began on Christmas Eve.

Motorists are advised to take note of alternative routes while the DPWH carries out concrete reblocking and asphalt overlay on both the northbound and southbound sections of EDSA during this period.

The following sections are scheduled for concrete reblocking from Dec. 28 to Jan. 5, 2025.

Southbound

  • Near the corner of P. Celle Street, in front of STI Building (3rd lane)
  • Near the corner of Park Avenue, in front of Baclaran on line (3rd lane)
  • Near Soleum Gas Station to Loring Street (3rd lane)
  • From the corner of FB Harrison, in front of Automall Parkway (outer lane)
  • Near the corner of P. Celle Street, in front of 205 Marcela Flor Building / Secret Garden Restaurant Corp. (outer lane)
  • Along Park Avenue to in front of Baclaran on line (outer lane)
  • Near Soleum Gas station to the corner of Taft Avenue (outer lane)
  • Near Reddoors at EDSA Pasay
  • Near Uno Fuel – Pasay
  • Near Corner Cabrera Street
  • Near Euna’s Store
  • Near Shell EDSA San Roque Cabrera
  • Along M. Dela Cruz Extension
  • Near Victory Line (Pasay Terminal)

The DPWH will also be applying new asphalt at the same time as it replaces the concrete blocks along EDSA, but with a more specific schedule. 

Northbound

Dec. 28 to Jan. 5

Dec. 29 to Jan. 5

  • From E. Rodriguez to Kalayaan Avenue (all lanes except bus lane, inner lane to outer lane)

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon assured the public that the reblocking and asphalt resurfacing works during the holidays will be carried out around the clock. The work began at 11 p.m. on December 24 and is expected to continue until 4 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2025.

According to Dizon, the P6-billion EDSA rehabilitation project is expected to take about eight months to complete. It aims to replace worn-out pavement, improve drainage, and create a more pedestrian-friendly road, particularly for commuters.
