MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines’ Johann Chua and two others continued to hold the battle for the nation by barging into the round-of-16 of the US Open Pool Championships on the Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic Metropolis, New Jersey yesterday.

The 33-year-old Chua, half of the workforce that topped the World Cup of Pool in Spain two years in the past, turned again Greek Alex Kazakis, 10-6, within the Final 32 to arrange a duel with Serbian Aleksa Pecelj, a 10-4 winner over Polish Mieszko Fortunski.

There, Jeffrey Roda and Michael Baoanan joined the Southeast Asian Video games gold winner after hurdling New Zealand’s Sullivan Clark, 10-5, and Venezuela’s Jesus Atencio, 10-9, respectively.

Their victories made up for the gorgeous lack of reigning World 9-Ball champion Carlos Biado to Estonia’s Denis Grabe, 10-3, within the Spherical of 64.

Roda clashes with Singaporean Aloysius Yapp, a 10-7 victor over Taiwanese Kuo Po-Cheng, whereas Baoanan tackles Vietnamese Duong Quoc Hoang, who bested Japanese Naoyuki Oi, 10-4.
