MANILA, Philippines — Don’t want your makeup to go wasted or “hulas” this summer?
Celebrity makeup artists Mickey See and Gela Laurel, with Maymay Entrata and Kyline Alcantara as models, recently gave tips for an “anti-hulas” summer look.
At a recent press launch by Avon Philippines in Makati City, Mickey said, “Lahat ng clients ko, before I put makeup, pinapahilamos ko talaga sila.”
“Hindi pwedeng oily ang skin, malagkit sila. ‘Pag nagfoundation ka, maghihiwalay lang ‘yun, hindi s’ya kakapit, So dapat, you start your makeup routine with a face that’s clean,” he advised.
Gela, on the other hand, stressed that “You also have to know your own skin and skin type.”
“Once you know your skin type, that’s how you choose the right skincare and makeup products to use na hindi mahuhulas sa’yo. So for example, people watch too many videos of people packing in too many products, but that doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. It depends on the weather and your skin type.”
According to her, using the wrong skincare or makeup product can surely result in “hulas.”
“For example, you are oily and you used a dewy foundation, ay talagang mahuhulas ka,” she warned.
“Pero meron akong trick kung nahuhulas ka sa liquid foundation: Dust your face with powder before you put on your foundation. That helps!” — Video by Deni Bernardo
