MANILA, Philippines — Beauty queens, rock stars and actors took their time to join the thousands of Filipinos on the streets to protest against corruption earlier today.
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray urged the Ombudsman to file the cases against implicated government officials, as well as urged the senate to suspend fellow senators, and Congress to pass the anti-dynasty bill.
Her fellow beauty queen, Miss Earth Philippines 2025 Joy Barcoma, was among the hosts of the Trillion Peso March program held at the People Power Monument in EDSA, Quezon City.
Comedian Pokwang and actor Elijah Canlas were among the early birds who were spotted in the morning activities. Pokwang was also among the hosts of the program.
“Actually may trabaho ako mamaya, may trabaho ako ng hapon, may trabaho ako ng gabi pero I made sure to come here tonight makiisa sa lahat ng mga Pilipino na pagod na pagod na, na gustong i-boses at gustong lumaban makibaka ka kasama ng mga kapwa Pilipino natin,” Elijah said in his interview with GMA News.
Maris, meanwhile, joined the group of the Philippines-Palestine Friendship Association, in Luneta, Manila. She was also with the group during the first anti-corruption protests last September 21. Also spotted among the Luneta crowd was actress Carmi Martin.
Known vocal seasoned actors also took the stage, such as Mitch Valdes and Celeste Legaspi.
Musicians were also among the acts who spent their Sunday afternoon being one of the thousands of Filipinos on the street.
Ben&Ben again sang their anthemic protest song “Kapangyarihan.” Other bands or acts who took the stage were Over October, Maki, and Morobeats.
