AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – In a news conference today, Amarillo police provided new details on three violent incidents that unfolded early Sunday morning.
The shootings left multiple people wounded and several dead.
House-party shooting leaves 2 wounded; suspect still at large
Police said officers were called around 3:15 a.m. near 3rd and South Mississippi after reports of gunfire.
Officers found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.
One victim was taken to a hospital by a private vehicle and the second was transported by ambulance.
Both were still receiving medical treatment as of the news conference.
Investigators said the suspect, described as an adult man, had been at a house party with about 15 people when he displayed an AR-15-style rifle and was asked to leave.
After leaving the home, the suspect turned back toward the home and fired multiple rounds into the home, striking two people inside.

The suspect fled before officers arrived and remains at large.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and no additional suspect information was being released at the time of the briefing.
Domestic-violence shooting on South Dallas; suspect arrested
In a second incident, police said officers were dispatched at 5:59 a.m. to a home near 29th and South Dallas for a domestic-violence shooting.
Amarillo police officers and Randall County Sheriff’s Office deputies encountered a man identified as 40-year-old James Pena.
Authorities said he was wearing body armor and armed with an AR-15-style rifle and a handgun.
Police said Pena was taken into custody without further incident.
During the initial investigation, officers found three injured family members, who were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators said preliminary information indicates Pena armed himself during the night and an altercation led to gunfire inside the home.

Police said he later exited and continued firing into the home.
Police say two other people responded to the home when they heard gunfire. They were shot and killed outside the home.

Pena was booked into the Randall County Jail on a charge of capital murder of multiple persons.
The investigation remains active.
Attempted robbery, pursuit and officer-involved shooting; suspect killed
Police said a third series of events began at 7:03 a.m. when Amarillo police responded to a home near Northwest 14th and Bonham for a disturbance after an open 911 call.
Officers said the suspect had already left and no crime was reported at that time.
At 7:36 a.m., deputies with the Potter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a business near U.S. 335 and North Western Street for an attempted robbery.
Investigators said a suspect forced his way into an occupied building and, during an encounter, a victim fought back and injured the suspect.
Authorities said the suspect left but parked a short distance away.
Police said a second individual arrived, and the suspect returned and shot two people, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
A brief pursuit involving Potter County deputies and the Texas Department of Public Safety was initiated, but the suspect was able to evade law enforcement, police said.
Police said the suspect later returned to the Northwest 14th Avenue residence.
At about 8:15 a.m., Amarillo police officers responded to multiple 911 calls and observed a suspect outside the residence wearing body armor and armed with a rifle, police said.
Officers gave verbal commands for the suspect to drop the rifle, but police said the suspect began firing at officers.
Officers returned fire, striking the suspect multiple times.
Police said officers rendered lifesaving measures, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect was identified as 41-year-old Dustin Johnson.
Investigators later learned that before the officer-involved shooting, the suspect had returned to the house, drove a vehicle into the home, and then began firing into the house.
Authorities said one victim was pronounced dead at the scene and five additional people were transported to local hospitals with injuries.
Police: Incidents not connected; increased patrols planned
Police said the three incidents were not connected and were not random acts of violence, adding that those involved were known to the victims in each case.
Amarillo police said the department will increase staffing and visible patrol presence in partnership with Randall County, Potter County and Texas DPS while investigations continue.
As is routine, the three officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave, police said.
